The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who snatched a cash register from a flea market outside Roanoke Rapids Wednesday.

Major Bruce Temple said the call initially came in as an armed robbery but investigators learned it was a strong armed robbery.

Sometime between 3 and 3:30 p.m. a younger white male walked in the 158  Flea Market and took the cash register, which contained an undisclosed amount of money.

The register was placed inside what is believed to be a four-door, brown sedan, possibly an early 1990s or 2000 model.

It is believed the register may have been ditched. The man was described as being thinly built.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444. A reward is offered for information.
