Descendants of the John Bradford family visited Halifax County in June and toured various homes and churches throughout the county that are connected with their ancestors.

While here, the group of Bradford Cousins learned of the Historical Halifax Restoration Association’s plans for the Eighteenth Century Bradford house.

The house has recently been moved from its original location outside of Enfield to the town of Halifax.

The Restoration Association is making repairs on the building and will use the home as an office and museum called the Bradford-Denton House.

A conceptual drawing has recently been completed which shows the appearance the Bradford-Denton House may have once the project is completed.

Many of the Bradford descendants made contributions to this project.

One descendant, Becky Moseley, also donated a sampler which was made in Enfield in 1814 by Elizabeth Fort.

Fort married John Branch, who was the son of Colonel John Branch and Mary Bradford Branch.

Samplers were made by young women in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries and helped demonstrate the creator’s embroidery skills and showcased their education.
