The Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce 2010 Ducky Derby will have plenty of offerings for families.
The Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau is sponsoring children’s amusements at this year’s annual event, which is planned for September 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Riverfalls Park in Weldon.
There will be an inflatable slide, a joust, jumping cage and crawl through, a rock wall, trackless train and turbo tubs.
There will be carnival games to play for $1 with guaranteed prizes.
New additions to this year’s event include a car show, kid’s talent show and a cornhole tournament, courtesy of Lake Country Cornhole.
There will also be a cash tank with your chance to grab some cash. The Holiday Band will be returning this year to provide entertainment throughout the day.
Tickets are now on sale for the chance of your duck winning the first place prize of $1,000 when the ducks race down the river at 2 p.m.
There is a second place prize of $500 and third place prize of $250.
You may adopt one duck for $5, six for $25 and 25 for $100.
Adoption tickets are available at the chamber offices located at 260 Premier Boulevard, as well as Halifax-Warren Smart Start, Hannah’s Closet and Daily Herald, all located on Roanoke Avenue.
