Weldon will have to advertise again after the top candidate for the administrator’s position backed out, Mayor Julia Meacham said today.

Ads seeking applicants for the position were expected to go out today.

Thirty people applied for the job, Meacham said, but some of them have not graduated college.

The mayor said the town needs a full time administrator with experience because of several projects the board wants to accomplish, including building a new library, expanding the water treatment plant and exploring building a transportation museum.
