The John 3:16 Center’s Camp J316 has been providing free summer day camps for years and help provide traditional summer camp activities, along with spiritual engagement.

There will be lake activities like swimming, fishing, canoeing, and more at the Warren County lakefront property.

The camps will take place June 17 through August 2, excluding the week of July 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Campers receive breakfast, lunch, and snack to take home. Limited transportation is available.

In addition to the traditional Camp J316 there are also new, opportunities available this year. Future Friday is available for students in grades 8 through 11 who wish to have the camp experience with a more mature focus on promising career interests.

Future Friday themes include: Electricity, Automotive, Marketing & Journalism, Construction, Healthcare, and Law Enforcement & Corrections.

The variety offered incorporates skills, trades, as well as degree occupations.

Future Friday will take place each Friday,  June 21 through August 2, excluding July 5.

The Not Good, But Great Basketball Camp is offered annually outside the area.

This year, however, the camp will be available in Roanoke Rapids.

Anthony “Ant” Atkinson Jr., who plays professionally with the Harlem Globetrotters, will be partnering with The John 3:16 Center and TJ Davis Recreation Center to make this possible.

He welcomes boys and girls, ages 4-17, during the week of July 29 through August 2 at TJ Davis Recreation Center.

This camp will be available for ages 4-11 from 9 a.m. to noon and ages 12-17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This camp is available at no cost with sponsored scholarships available through The John 3:16 Center.
