A two day operation conducted by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Friday and today on Interstate 95 netted 114 charges.
Lieutenant Chuck Hasty said officers made seven drug arrests, four criminal arrests, nine charges for driving while license revoked and no operators license, 11 charges for speeding, 16 child restraint violations and 67 other charges.
Officers seized more than 55 grams of marijuana.
Today, during the Operation Summer Heat enforcement, Deputy Emerson Carroll stopped a car for a traffic violation and during the traffic stop correctional officer Pat Baggett’s dog Jetta indicated on the vehicle.
Christopher G. Woody, 18, of Glen Allen, Virginia, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Woody had a $2,500 bond and a court date of July 20.
Deputy Carroll also cited Benjamin E. Carbray, 18, of Glen Allen, Virginia, for possession of marijuana during the stop.
Deputy Chris Scott stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation and cited Sean Michael Smith, 28, of West Palm Beach, Florida, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was given a court date of August 23.
Assisting in Operation Summer Heat were the North Carolina Highway Patrol, North Carolina A.L.E, North Carolina D.M.V. Theft Division, North Carolina Department of Correction and the Weldon Police Department.
