Warrants have been filed in a Monday afternoon crash which occurred following a domestic call in the area of Georgia Avenue.

Miguel James, 32, of the Enfield area, is expected to be charged with felony flee to elude arrest and careless and reckless driving, interim Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said in a statement.

Martin confirmed this afternoon James is still hospitalized and continues to recover from injuries sustained in the crash which occurred at the intersection of Hinson Street and Branch Avenue following a chase.

The occupants of the vehicle James crashed into — a father and two sons — also continue to recover from their injuries, Martin said in the statement.

Sergeant T. Tyler filed the warrants following his investigation of the crash. Investigation continues and more charges could be filed.

The crash and subsequent chase stemmed from a domestic call on Georgia Avenue and ended in a collision on Hinson Street.

The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m.

Tyler and other officers responded to a domestic call on Georgia Avenue.

After talking with the family a man was asked to leave and he complied with Tyler and other officers.

However, as he he left, he squalled tires in his vehicle and swerved over the road.

Tyler got in his patrol vehicle and tried to catch up with the driver, who was traveling at high rates of speed.

The driver continued onto Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and Roanoke Avenue, crossed over and turned onto Hinson Street, still driving at high rates of speed.

When Tyler saw the vehicle again the suspect driver collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Hinson Street and Branch Avenue.
