A man arrested on vehicle break-in charges by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office also faces similar charges from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office Friday arrested David Cox, 31, from the Roanoke Rapids area, on several vehicle break-ins in the West Tenth Street area, Lieutenant Bobby Martin said.
Lieutenant Chuck Hasty arrested the man in the Colonial Drive area when he saw Cox allegedly toss a GPS unit to the ground, a unit which was allegedly stolen from a vehicle on Fairlane Drive.
Cox was charged with three counts of breaking and entering motor vehicles and possession of stolen goods. He was jailed on a $9,000 bond and has a May 12 court date.
Meanwhile, Captain Andy Jackson, of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, said Cox has also been charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny and possession of stolen goods, which stem from break-ins in the Rochelle Pond area. One of the items stolen has been recovered and Cox faces an additional charge of obtaining property by false pretense where a stolen item was sold.
Jackson said further investigation into the car break-ins continues.
