A Main Street director has been chosen and the person’s name is expected to be announced within the next two days.
Roanoke Avenue Business Alliance President Kim Simpson said the person should start work by the beginning of July.
“I think it’s just going to bring (the Main Street program) to the next level,” Simpson said this morning. “It’s going to bring awareness that the program is about the whole avenue. We need people from every block to listen.”
The new Main Street director may be introduced at the alliance’s June meeting. “She’s going to be out there hitting the streets. She’ll have her number, cards. It’s going to be a big difference.”
Simpson said she was grateful of the support by alliance’s board as the search for a director was conducted.
The director will be particularly helpful in planning for next year’s Festival of the Roanoke, Simpson said.
