A Pennsylvania woman died in a car crash Friday night on Interstate 95 near the Virginia line.

Sergeant Preston Dennis of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the victim, 22-year-old Destinee Pusateri of East Stroudsburg, was a member of the United States Navy and was stationed in Georgia. She was heading to meet her spouse, who is also in the Navy, at the time of the crash.

Dennis said the investigation by Trooper K.I. Spearman shows that Pusateri was traveling north when she passed a semi-truck shortly after 6:15 p.m.

She traveled off the roadway to the left, came back onto the roadway, and then traveled off the roadway to the right where the vehicle struck several trees before she was ejected.

The vehicle then returned to the roadway and struck two other vehicles. Those vehicles sustained minimal damage and no occupants were injured.

Dennis said Pusateri was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Contributing factors include failure to maintain lane control and overcorrection.
