A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested and charged in a March 17 second-degree forcible rape case, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Major Anzell Harris said Deputy I. Smith located 32-year-old Jamal Donte Rogers Sunday and arrested him. Rogers faces charges of second-degree forcible rape and second-degree forcible sex offense.
Detective Sergeant B. Edmondson obtained warrants on Rogers following a sexual assault report the sheriff’s office received last month.

Harris said the victim reported that on that night of the assault, she heard a knock at the backdoor. When the victim opened the door Rogers, a former boyfriend, entered the residence, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim against her will and left.
Rogers remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond and has an April 22 district court date.
