The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled its first two North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program enforcement campaigns for the new year.
The first will be the St. Patrick’s Day Booze It & Lose It campaign scheduled for March 16 through March 22, according to Major Anzell Harris.

The second will be the Speed a Little, Lose a Lot enforcement scheduled for March 30 through April 5.

Harris said deputies stayed active participating in the programs throughout last year, conducting 177 events around the county and assisting other local law enforcement agencies with 27 events.
These events included traffic checking stations, saturated patrols, speeding enforcement, seat belt enforcement, and educational events.
“We at the sheriff’s office promote highway safety awareness and safe driving initiatives,” Harris said. “We engage in the Click It or Ticket, Booze It & Lose It and Speed a Little, Lose a Lot campaigns throughout the year. We encourage everyone to watch your speed, buckle up and if you consume alcohol, please have a responsible driver.”
