The Center for Energy Education and Oak Grove Baptist Church will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in separate upcoming events.
C4EE celebration
The center will hold a celebration at its campus at 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids on January 16 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This year’s program will highlight perspectives of community service through the lens of law enforcement and will feature representatives from Halifax, Northampton, and Warren counties.
School superintendents from area school districts will also share their views on community service. Additionally, C4EE will recognize and honor the late Chester Williams, CEO of ABC2, and his staff as they continue his community service work.

This event is free and open to the public and includes a light lunch.

Oak Grove Baptist Church commemoration
On January 19, Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 10614 Highway 158 in Littleton, will hold its 24th King Day commemoration service in conjunction with Piney Grove Baptist Church.
The day begins with a parade at 10 a.m. Participants should arrive at the Littleton Post Office by 9:45 a.m. for the lineup. The parade will conclude at Piggly Wiggly.

At 10:30 a.m., representatives from community organizations will be at the church, followed by the main program at noon. Leonardo Williams, a Halifax County native and the mayor of Durham, will serve as the keynote speaker.
This year’s community service project benefits Boys 2 Men. Donations of snacks, water, Gatorade, and school supplies are welcomed.
