Magnus Grey Flythe came into the world on February 26, 2022.
However, she died unexpectedly following birth complications, her mother, Meghan, said.
Each year Meghan and her husband, Russ, host a celebration of her life to raise money for a different charity.
This year the Flythes, who now have a “new little blessing” named Drake Thomas Flythe, donated 922 bears to ECU Health North, where Meghan works as a nurse. “This year was something different,” she said. “I wanted to make a Magnus bear to give to children who were in the hospital. We see a large number of children and we wanted them to have something to comfort them through their hospital stay.”
For ECU Health North, the donated bears represent a legacy of comfort and courage. “We’re honored to receive a special donation of Magnus bears, created in loving memory of Magnus Grey Flythe,” the hospital said. “These cuddly companions are more than just stuffed animals — they’re symbols of courage, comfort, and connection for children facing medical challenges. The bears carry the legacy of love and resilience, offering a soft reminder that no child walks their journey alone. Whether it’s a tough procedure or a long recovery, Magnus bears are here to bring smiles, strength, and support.”

“Your generosity helps us continue placing these bears where they bring the most comfort,” the hospital said. “Together, we can make a difference — one bear, one child, one moment of comfort at a time.”
