A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested Friday after he was caught driving in a stolen vehicle, according to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies located William T. Biggs, 49, as he was driving along Highway 158 near Nags Head.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and detained Biggs around 2 p.m.. 

During the search of the vehicle, with assistance from the Nags Head police canine unit, drug paraphernalia was located and seized. 

Biggs was arrested and charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and served with a felony warrant from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Lieutenant Morgan Worrell of the RRPD said the warrant was for a probation violation and the circumstances around the theft of the vehicle are still being investigated.

Biggs was issued a $35,000 secured bond in Dare County.
