To educate and demonstrate the positive environmental effects of recycling, the Center for Energy Education is sponsoring a Trash to Treasures challenge that blends recycling and art.

Craft enthusiasts are invited to submit artistic creations now. The free challenge is open to Roanoke Valley youth for three age divisions: grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Participants of all skill levels are welcome and should bring their trash-to-treasure submissions to C4EE’s campus at 460 Airport Road, Roanoke Rapids by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 for judging. Age-specific prizes will be awarded Wednesday afternoon, July 30, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 252-541-3004.
