A Roanoke Rapids man who had been on law enforcement radar since March was charged Wednesday evening on cocaine trafficking and other counts.
Tryon M. Mills, 47, was released from detention center custody this afternoon after promising a $15,000 premium on a $200,000 secured bond to a bondsman, according to eCourts records.
He was arrested around 6 p.m. by agents of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force with the assistance of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
A search warrant was executed at his residence on Melody Lane. The search warrant has not yet been filed in the eCourts system.
Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said agents have been intensely investigating Mills since March due to numerous complaints and information of him continuously selling in the community.
While attempting to secure the house, agents found Mills inside holding what was suspected to be a bag containing cocaine.
According to the arrest warrant, Mills resisted by running on foot and physically resisting by pulling, snatching away, and pushing.
Harris confirmed that during the attempt to flee Mills sustained minor injuries and was taken to a medical facility and released.
During the search of the house, agents located approximately 904.50 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately 29 grams of suspected marijuana.
Mills was charged with trafficking cocaine by possession, trafficking cocaine by manufacturing, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a dwelling, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia in the form of digital scales and plastic bags, according to the arrest warrant, and resisting a public officer.
He is scheduled to appear in district court on May 13.
