A 17-year old has been charged as an adult in a Tuesday afternoon shooting in Woodland, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately release the juvenile’s name despite him being charged under a 2024 law in which 16- and 17-year-olds who are charged with Class A-E felonies go through the adult court system. rrspin.com has requested the juvenile’s name.

Captain Patrick Jacobs said in a statement today that on Wednesday detectives M. Deloatch and W. Killian located the male in the Woodland area.

He has been charged with the following:

Two counts assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill

Two counts discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle

Two counts injury to personal property

Two counts possession of a firearm by a minor

Two counts carrying a concealed weapon

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday about seven juveniles ranging in age from 15 to 18 were detained following a shooting in which numerous vehicles were struck.

There were no known physical injuries following the shooting which occurred at the Woodland Dollar General Store around 1:45 p.m.

A motive has not been established.

A suspect vehicle was immediately developed in the case and with the help of the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office and Murfreesboro Police Department one of the suspect vehicles was seized.

Investigators are working on leads and evidence.

The 17-year-old received a $50,000 secured bond in a juvenile detention center and has a May 1 district court date.

Investigation continues and more charges are expected in the coming days, Jacobs said.
