Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following:

RRPD

Lieutenant Morgan Worrell reported that on Tuesday Traffic Officer M. Morris stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and Chockoyotte Street. 

The driver, Jack Eldridge Bryant, 39, admitted that his license was suspended. 

Officer M. Morris requested Corporal K. Williams to assist with a canine deployment. Melix , her dog, alerted on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Lori Atkinson, 32, of Weldon. 

Morris located several pieces of paper containing a white powdery substance, 4 grams of suspected heroin, between the passenger and driver's seat. 

Furthermore, Bryant was also found in possession of 28 pills in a clear plastic bag. 

Williams located a burned glass pipe under the driver's seat. 

Concluding the search, Morris located several other items of drug paraphernalia in Atkinson's purse. 

Bryant was charged with felony possession of heroin, driving while license revoked, simple possession of schedule IV, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to use turn signal. 

Bryant was jailed without the opportunity for bond due to a pending court case in January involving financial card fraud and ID theft.

He has a Thursday district court date for the Tuesday counts.

Atkinson was charged with felony possession of heroin, simple possession of schedule IV, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

She received a $5,000 bond and the same district court date as Bryant.

Major Anzell Harris reported that on Tuesday the Community Action Team was conducting a saturation patrol in South Weldon when Sergeant G. Martin observed a motor vehicle violation.

The driver was identified as Iesha Owens, 32, of Gaston.  There was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Owens handed Martin a marijuana blunt and a glass jar containing marijuana. Owens had a suspended  license for failure to appear.

During the search of the vehicle, a concealed handgun, a folded dollar bill containing cocaine and a red cut straw with white residue was seized.

Owens was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, open container, driving while license revoked and revoked registration.

Owens received an $8,000 bond and Thursday district court date.
