United States District Court Clerk Peter A. Moore Jr. this week appointed Robert N. Hunter Jr., a Greensboro attorney, as the mediator in the case of Vivian Pompliano, the former owner of Pomp Boys Motors, who is suing the city of Roanoke Rapids and others over the demise of her business.
“It is further ordered that the mediator shall confer with the parties regarding scheduling of the mediated settlement conference, determine the place and time of the conference, and give notice to the parties,” Moore wrote.
The mediator will also be responsible for submitting a report to the clerk when the mediated settlement conference is completed.
A notice filed in February said that the parties in the case had selected Hunter, an attorney who focuses on alternative dispute resolution, federal and state appeals, and election law.
Hunter has been a certified mediator in North Carolina since 1994.
The city of Roanoke Rapids; former officer Jamie Lee Hardy, and officers Antonio Seward, and Jayme Shelburne in their individual and official capacities; Rose Beacham in her individual capacity; and L&R Motor Company remain defendants in the lawsuit after a voluntary dismissal was filed on behalf of defendants Vickie Evans and Dennis Harvey in January.
Pompliano claims that harassment by three officers of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department led to the demise of her business.
