When officers arrived they began speaking to witnesses and learned that one woman had been in possession of a weapon while intoxicated. They charged Terry, 43, of Roanoke Rapids on a state citation of that count.
Further investigation showed that Terry did not fire her gun, but that Perry, 34, fired into Terry’s vehicle striking it multiple times.
Perry was jailed without the opportunity for bond and remains in the Halifax County Detention Center.
She has a February 27 district court date for the February 8 shooting and an April 16 district court date for speeding and an open container.

Lieutenant J. Lyles emailed the information to deputies.
Part-time Deputy C.T. Hasty, who was off-duty, saw a man fitting the description at Walmart and contacted Lieutenant R. White. Hasty kept an eye on the man while Deputy I. Miller and White were on the way to the area.
Montgomery was located near the grocery entrance of the store and was taken into custody by Miller, White and Captain A. Cash.
