As wet weather continues to be the norm through Thursday, it may begin Tuesday as a wintry mix of precipitation mainly north of the Interstate 85 corridor, the National Weather Service said in its afternoon briefing.

Light amounts, warm ground temperatures and marginal freezing temperatures should limit impacts to minor travel inconveniences. Rain is expected south of I-85.

Overall, the NWS said, the week will be wet from Tuesday through Thursday as rain moves across much of central North Carolina. The weather could bring as much as 3 inches of rain.

A next round of rain is expected Saturday night through Sunday.

Halifax County Emergency Services said total snow and sleet accumulation of up to one-half an inch could be possible along with a light glaze.

There is a marginal risk of flash flooding mainly west of Interstate 95.

Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes in Granville, Halifax, Vance, and Warren counties.
