A bridge on the Roanoke Canal Trail between Roanoke Avenue and River Road is out and will need replacing.
It was a project that started with an old boat ramp used to ferry prisoners across the Roanoke River to the former Caledonia prison on the other side of the banks in Halifax County, said Gary Gardner.
A missing Enfield man, Clifton Battle, has been located safe and well, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Family members of an Enfield man this afternoon reported him missing around 4:30.
While the number of positive cases of COVID-19 continues to go down, the percentage of positive cases is still high, Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow said.
