Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Halifax Community College (HCC) will proudly break ground on the new Advanced Manufacturing and Corporate Training Center.

The training center will house curriculum and short-term training programs for industrial systems technology, welding technology and automotive systems technology.

It will also serve as a venue where area businesses and industries can upgrade the skills of their current employees as well as new hires, and schedule other training needs.

The building will be located across from the Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. Centre.

"The Advanced Manufacturing and Corporate Training Center is the culmination of the efforts of many individuals who are committed to the economic advancement of Halifax and Northampton counties,” said Dr. Michael Elam, president of HCC. “We anticipate that this state-of-the-art facility will, among other things, significantly improve the college's ability to meet the future workforce needs of our community.”

The groundbreaking will begin in the Griffin Centre.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to participate in the ceremony.
