Halifax Community College announced the approval and upcoming launch of several new academic programs in the skilled trades.
Beginning August 18, students will have the opportunity to pursue training in high-demand fields that support the economic and workforce development needs of the region.
HCC will offer Building Construction Technology, which includes an Associate in Applied Science degree, a diploma, and certificates.
This program will be led by Program Chair James Messer. The college will also introduce Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology, offering both a diploma and certificates under the direction of Program Chair John Mulder.
Additionally, HCC will begin offering a diploma program in Facility Maintenance Technology, also chaired by Mulder.
“These programs are a direct response to the growing demand for skilled trades professionals in our area,” said Dr. Julie M. Galvin, dean of academic affairs at Halifax Community College. “We are committed to equipping our students with the practical skills and training necessary to succeed in today’s workforce.”
The addition of these programs reflects HCC’s ongoing mission to provide accessible, high-quality education and training opportunities that lead to sustainable careers.
Students enrolled in these new offerings will benefit from hands-on instruction, experienced faculty, and a curriculum tailored to industry standards.
Enrollment is currently open for the fall semester. Classes begin August 18.
