The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings softball team traveled to Rocky Mount Tuesday afternoon for a conference game against Rocky Mount Academy.

Halifax earned the win 2-0 with Sydney Smith pitching all seven innings striking out seven batters and allowing only two hits.

At the plate for the Lady Vikings, Ashton Garner had two doubles, Candice Smith had a double and a single, Morgan Hudomint had two singles, Sydney Smith had two singles, Emerson Poole had a double and Baily Robertson had a single. Drew Rose and Hudomint scored the two runs for the Vikings.

The Roanoke Rapids based eighth grade Elite travel basketball team traveled to Goldsboro this past weekend for the "Supreme Shootout".

The Roanoke Rapids team won the championship game against Warriors Elite 58-55 for the championship.

Weekend total points scored were:

S. Davis with 48 points

L. Woolfolk JR with 56 points

T. High Jr with 36 points

C. Davis with 8 points

T. Alston with 5 points

The Roanoke Rapids High Lady Yellow Jackets softball team hosted the NC School of Science and Math Unicorns Friday night on Senior night.

The Lady Jackets finished the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with the 15 run slaughter rule beating the Unicorns 17-2.

Seniors Breanna Allen and Haley Farrow were honored before the game on their last game on the Lady Jackets home field.

Senior Breanna Allen earned the win on the mound for the Jackets pitching four innings allowing two hits, striking out nine batters and walking two batters.

The Lady Jackets had thirteen hits on the night. Abbi Carpenter had four singles, Kelsey Beirbauer had single and a double, Breanna Allen had two singles, Kaitlin Rogerson had a triple, Caitlin Bobbitt had a single, Kaylyn Long had a single and A. Qusam had two singles.

The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings soccer team suffered a tough loss to Kerr Vance Academy (KVA) at home Friday by the score of 3-2.

KVA got on the board first with an early goal and Halifax responded with two unassisted goals midway through the first half by Abby George and Whitney George. Before the half ended, KVA found the net two more times to take the lead for good. There was no more scoring in the second half.

"The Lady Vikings played a hard fought game but we're unable to generate enough offense to overcome the three goals by KVA", stated Vikings head coach Time George. "Unfortunately this may have eliminated us from winning the conference, but we still have the ability to win 3 tough conference games next week to finish in second and establish good seeding for the state playoffs", George added.

The next game for the Lady Vikings is at home Monday May 1st at 5:30pm against Oakwood followed by Senior Night on Tuesday May 2nd.
