The Roanoke Rapids High school Varsity Yellow Jackets Baseball team picked up a big conference, road win at Bunn on Tuesday night by a score of 3-0 against the Bunn Wildcats.

Colby Warren pitched a complete game shutout for the win and only allowed 2 hits while he struck out 11 batters.

The Yellow Jackets scored their first run in the 3rd inning.  Tommy Bradley led off the inning with a triple to rightfield and came around to score on an RBI groundout from Cameron Rogerson.

The Jackets took a 2-0 lead in the 5th inning.  Tommy Bradley once again tripled, this time to leftfield.  He came home on an RBI single by Hunter Connell.

The final run for the Yellow Jackets came in the 7th inning when Colby Warren blasted a homerun over the centerfield fence.

Coach Mark Snead stated, "What a great game for our team tonight.  Colby was great on the mound.  He pitched an excellent game and really shut down a strong Bunn lineup.  Our defense played flawless behind him, and that combination of pitching and defense will win you a lot of games.  I also like our approach at the plate tonight.  We worked the counts well and got good pitches to hit.  I was also impressed with the way our team was into the game from the first pitch to the last pitch.  We were ready to play tonight."

RRHS improves to 12-2 on the season and 9-1 in the Northern Carolina Conference.  The Yellow Jackets return to action Friday night with a battle for first place at home versus South Granville.  The JV game will start at 4pm with the Varsity game to follow at Doyle Field.
