Thomas Merritt had 7 saves in goal

Roanoke Rapids head coach Craig Jean post match comments, "I didn't think we had a terrible performance, we just didn't put them away and let them hang around, which put more pressure on us than we needed to have late in the game. We had a lot of good chances early, we just had trouble finishing. I give a lot of that credit to Hertford County's goalie, Victor Rueda. He made some great saves that kept them in the game. I knew it would be a tough place for us to play, but the heat and our struggles finishing shots were harder on us than the field dimensions. Still, any time you get a win- especially on the road, it is a great thing. After getting rattled midway through the second, my kids were able to settle down and hold their composure the last 20 minutes to seal the win. Chase Johnson had his best game of the season offensively and Thomas Merritt didn't have to make many saves, but the few he did were big time. Our biggest issue now is how quick these boys can recover physically and play a tough Northeastern team in 90+ degree weather again tomorrow. "
