The North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association (NCBCA) recently announced its 2016 High School Baseball All-State teams.
Roanoke Rapids High School was well represented with two players named to the 2A All-State team. Senior Nick Horvath and Junior Colby Warren were awarded this honor based on their strong 2016 seasons.
Coach Mark Snead stated, "I am so happy for these two young men. Both are talented ball players who are a coach's dream. They are hard working and let their passion for the game show at every practice and game. They work to get better every day and I am so glad their dedication paid of with this All-State honor. It also says a lot about their teammates and our program. The coaches across the state saw the success of our whole team and know what kind of young men and ball players we have here at RRHS."
Nick Horvath, a pitcher and infielder, said "I am truly honored to have made All-State my senior year. I couldn't have done it without all the love and support from my family and friends. Baseball has always been my passion, and will continue to be a part of me for years to come."
Colby Warren, a pitcher and infielder, said "It's a big honor to be able to be selected for All-State. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my family and friends here to support me and push me to do better. Thank you to all who supported me."
The Northern Carolina Conference was well represented on the 2A All-State team with a total of 7 players on the team. Joining Horvath and Warren were Justin Bullock (2A player of the year), Spencer Shifflett, and Holden Laws of South Granville and Spencer Brickhouse and Davie Morgan from Bunn.
