Friday will be a busy night at Weldon High's football game that will be filled with lots of youth blue & gold honored along with some Gold present to the School, thanks to the NFL.
Weldon will recognize the JV and Varsity Weldon Chargers players in the Halifax-Northampton Youth Football League, the Weldon Middle School & cheerleaders at 7 PM. At half-time of the home game against Louisburg, Weldon graduate and former NFL New England Patriot player Cedric Jones will be delivering a NFL Gold colored football for the Weldon High's showcase.
One of the unique ways the NFL is celebrating Super Bowl 50 is by sending a gold football to every High school in the Country that has produced a player or coach who has participated in a Super Bowl. The NFL estimates over 3,000 players have played along with 52 coaches.

Jones who played 126 games in the NFL played in the Super Bowl XX with one 19 yard reception. Super Bowl XX was a game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Chicago Bears and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion New England Patriots to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1985 NFL season. The Bears defeated the Patriots by the score of 46–10.
