GCP defeats Weldon Middle by the score of 40-0 in football in Weldon Monday night.

GCP took the opening kickoff for a 72 yard touchdown run by Johnny Cruz. After a great defensive stop by the GCP defense, Cruz took the opening handoff on GCP first offensive possession for another 72 yard touchdown run to put GCP up 16-0 early in the first quarter. Cruz and Jamar Banks connected on both 2 point conversions.

Malik Lee scored on GCP next offensive possession from 10 yards out with Christopher Ward getting the 2 point conversion. After a turnover on downs by Weldon, Johnny Cruz rambled 40 yards to the 11 yard line. Jamar Banks took the next handoff to the end zone for his first touchdown of the night. He also countered with the 2 point conversion putting GCP up 32-0 in the first quarter. Semaj Mitchell ran from 25 yards out for his first touchdown of the night early in the second quarter to close out the scoring for GCP with Kale Sutton connecting on the 2 point conversion.

Cruz led the offensive attack with 4 carries for 130 yards with 1 touchdown and one 2 point conversion. He also had 1 kickoff return for a 72 yard touchdown.

Semaj Mitchell finished with 3 carries for 40 yards and 1 touchdown.

Malik Lee finished with 3 carries for 50 yards and 1 touchdown.

Jamar Banks had 3 carries for 20 yards and 1 touchdown with two 2 point conversions. Kale Sutton had 2 carries for 15 yards and one 2 point conversion.

Christopher Ward also had a 35 yard interception return for a touchdown that was called back due to a penalty.

GCP defense was another team effort led by Semaj Mitchell, Kale Sutton, Xavier Clements & Christopher Ward.

Mitchell finished with 10 tackles.

Sutton finished with 9 tackles and a pass deflection.

Clements finished with 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Ward finished with 4 tackles and an interception.
