The Halifax County Sheriffs Department earned the 2015 The Unity in the Community basketball Championship Saturday.

The game benefited Esquires for Education was designed to promote unity between local law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Law enforcement officers in Halifax County, Northampton County, Roanoke Rapids, and Weldon teamed up with young men in their community to vie for the title of Unity Champions.

In the first game Weldon Police Department/NC Highway Patrol fell to Halifax County Sheriffs Department 37-42. Then in the second game Roanoke Rapids Police Department beat Northampton Count Sheriffs Department 41-29.

Halifax County Sheriffs Department battled the Roanoke Rapids Police Department for the championship with Halifax County prevailing with the win 29-24.
