Halifax Swimmers finish at State meet

Nine members of the Halifax Academy swim team traveled to Greensboro Monday to compete with over 400 swimmers from 33 schools in the NCISAA 1A/2A State Swim Meet.

The boys finished 20th in the rankings and the girls finished 25th. Junior standout Ivan Carroll took 7th in the 100 backstroke with a 1:06.53 and 17th in the 50 freestyle swimming a 25.57, breaking both school records. Junior standout Hayley Heath also finished 17th in the girls 50 freestyle swimming a personal best time of 28.70.

Also notably both girls and boys 4x100 freestyle relay teams finished 14th. Boys relay team included Carroll, Matthew Kessinger, Colton Powell and Ted Fleming. Girls relay team including Heath, Laura Brady, Meredith Harris and Emily Adkins.
