One in Sprint Unlimited and one in Daytona 500 Qualifying
Former Halifax County resident and a past NASCAR engine builder of the year winner Earl Wheeler had two engines in Daytona this past weekend.
Wheeler, who builds NASCAR engines for Hendrick Motorsports had one of his engines in the #41 Kurt Busch during the SPRINT Unlimited in Daytona. Busch was collected in the big wreck that took out half the cars, so the horsepower was really not seen.
Wheeler's other built engine was in the #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. Chevy during qualifying. Jr. was the top car out of the Hendrick stable and qualified in the 7th spot out of 49.
