Halifax Academy's Swim Team traveled to Kinston on Tuesday to participate in the EPIC Conference swim meet hosted by Arendell Parrott Academy along with teams from St. David's, Cary Christian, Grace Christian, Faith Christian and Rocky Mount Academy.
The Vikings finished 5th overall with the girls' finishing 5th and the boys' finishing 6th. Girls' standouts included Hayley Heath with a 4th place finish in the 100 Butterfly and a 7th place finish in the 200 Individual Medley and Shay Edwards with a 6th place finish in the 500 freestyle.
For the boys, Colton Powell had a 4th finish in the 500 freestyle, Ivan Carroll had 5th place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 Individual Medley, and Matthew Kessinger finished a 5th place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
The boys 400 yard relay team finished 4th with Carroll, Kessinger, Powell and Ted Fleming. The Vikings' final appearance will be in Greensboro on February 17th for the NCISAA 1A/2A State Swim meet.
