RVGSL Spring Softball season is closer
"The 2014 season for the Roanoke Valley girls softball league (RVGSL) is taking shape," says League president Mike Lucas. Things might not look different to parents or players on the outside, but this season will not be under the Babe Ruth Charter, instead the RVGSL Board of Directors has voted to charter under the Little League Softball Charter.
With the restructuring of Babe Ruth for the state of North Carolina all of Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Babe Ruth teams chose not to follow Babe Ruth League and has elected to try the Little League Charter for a year. The regular season should be about the same as it has been in the past, say Lucas. “we will follow the Little League rule book instead of the Babe Ruth rules, most that are about the same.”
RVGSL will have all-stars after the regular season, which will be called “Area All-stars” and will be played in Cashie and the Little League District all-stars will be played in Greenville.
The age groups should be the same, but just listed by Little League as different names. Tee Ball = 4 and 5 Year olds, Minor Division = U8 and U10, Major Division = U12, Junior Division = U14, Senior Division = U16, Big League = U18.
Lucas says registration forms are in the process with a few changes and should be ready soon for the 2014 Registration season. Check by T.J. Davis Recreation Center for forms.
