The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets will kick off the 2013 football season on August 23 at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Northampton County to start a very tough non-conference schedule.
New Coach Will Clark takes reign of the Jackets with one of the toughest schedules the school has had in years.
Northampton finished last year with an 11-3 record averaging 38.5 points a game. The Jackets finished 4-7 averaging 27.1 points a game.

The Yellow Jacket defense gave up 25.5 points on average and they will have to step up on their game. The Jackets will open at home on August 29 against Wilson Fike.
The Demons are a 3A school that bring size and depth. The Yellow Jackets will also play Southern Nash at home on September13.
The Firebirds finished the season 8-3 last year and are currently ranked number 61 in the state by Max Preps.
The non-conference schedule will finish up in Tarboro where the Vikings finished 14-1 and averaged 40.7 points a game. The Vikings JV team had a 9-1 record in 2012.
The Yellow Jackets' new coach came to Roanoke Rapids from 4A Scotland High School, where over the last two years the Fighting Scots put together a 27-2 record which included back to back conference championships and a 4A state title in 2011.
Coach Clark used a spread option offensive attack for the Scots and they averaged 35 points per game in 2012.
It will be exciting to see what kind of wrinkles that coach Clark can bring to the Yellow Jacket Offense.
