A Word from the Coach

It is with great pleasure that I announce the start of a new era in Roanoke Rapids sports. Contrary to rumors and speculation, the Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jacket midgets program is HERE TO STAY. Now under the direction of Troy McNair, we look forward to continuing a rich tradition of football with three important objectives in mind: we want to teach kids the fundamentals, rules and sportsmanship of football, we want to continue the set path of success and we want to make the experience fun for the kids, parents and coaches involved. We will require 100% effort out of each child that steps on the field and we will push them to their individual limits in order to help fulfill their potential. We believe that children are far more capable of achieving goals, understanding complex concepts and executing those concepts than we as adults give them credit. Mary McLeod Bethune said it best when she said “We have a powerful potential in our youth, and we must have the courage to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends.”
