Only takes five innings to advance to 2nd round NCHSAA State play-offs
Roanoke Rapids High softball played host to Farmville Central Friday night and wins in five innings 10-0.
Roanoke Rapids was up 9-0 when Brooke Vincent got on base on an error, Hunter Martin came up and got on base with a hit, then Jordan Carpenter came up to bat. She hit a ball to the outfield just over the second basmans head. The second baseman went for the ball and was catchable but fell out her glove. Thus when Vincent crossed home plate the ten run rule came into play and the ball game was over.

At the plate Sara Abernathy was 2-4 with a double, Brianna Allen was 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI's, Hunter Martin was 2-4 with a double. Paula Hardy, Jordan Carpenter, Brooke Vincent and Brooke McClenny each got a single giving RoRap 10 hits but left 9 runners on base.

Caitlin Ewers was winning pitcher.
Senior Caitlin Ewers started on the mound and earned the win, pitching 4 innings with four strike outs, while Sierra Hearp came in for relief in the fifth inning striking out one batter.
Roanoke Rapids advances to the second round and travel to Northeastern High Tuesday night.
