Whenever a new racing program is planned, you never know if it will be accepted by the fans and teams until you open the gates for the event. After this weekends participation by the Fans, Teams and Sponsors, we know the answer is YES and we are now looking forward to next months "Double Down Weekend" Event!!!

With much anticipation for our first "Double Down Weekend" Event the gates opened on Friday afternoon for our "Fire Em' Up Fridays" Racing Program and the race teams and fans responded with several teams making their first appearance at the speedway with many many new fans in attendance and good participation in our Clary's Racing Family Camping Program for the weekend! Everyone in attendance experienced Great Racing In All Divisions throughout the friday evening program, with two drivers emerging with the chance to pickup the "Double Down Bonus Money" posted for the Late Model and Super Street/T&L winners if they could "Double Down" and win their feature races again on Saturday Night!

In Late Models it would be Russell Erwin of Beaver Dam, VA driving the #32 Corky Boys Chevrolet racing for the $1,000 Double Down Bonus Money and Matthew Bissette in his #23 Bissette Farms Chevrolet racing for the Super Street $500 Double Down Bonus Money On Saturday Night!!!

On Saturday their was excitement and tension in the air as the teams had a full day at the track to prepare their cars for the nights "Sizzlin' Saturday Night" Racing Program! With teams leaving from the night before to race at their home track, New Teams would come thru the gate and provide the winners from friday night more competition on night 2 and another challenge for the win and they did just that! Erwins Late Model Team made final adjustments after qualifying in 4th for their 30 lap feature race and Bissettes Team was ready to race after setting their car in the 3rd starting position for the Super Street 20 Lap Feature Race!

The racing was hot and furious in all the divisions and the action in the Super Street division was unreal to the finish, with Buddy Isles Jr picking up his 2nd Win of the seaon over Dan Blaylock and Tyler Vaughan. Bissette would finish in 4th after having to pit with two cut tires after having contact with the #3 of Scott Pearce while they raced for 3rd position on lap 10. Matthew did not pick up the $500 Bonus Money so it rolls over to the June "Double Down Weekend" Event!!!

In the Late Model 30 Lap Feature Race, Louisburg, NC's Damon Kotke would return to the speedway after racing the previous night with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series and set his #02 Chevrolet in the pole position to start the race. The #89 Chevrolet of Brodnax, VA's JC Clary would jump to the lead at the start of the race with Kotke, Erwin and the #0 of Ray Tucker racing him very hard for the lead, often racing 3 wide thru the turns until lap 8 when Kotke would pass Clary for the lead coming off turn 2. On lap 12 Erwin would work his way around Clary coming down the front stretch and set his sights on Kotke and a possible $3,000 winning weekend! On lap 15 Erwin would catch Kotke and race him clean and hard until the end of the race. Erwin would race Kotke side by side for the lead multiple times with Kotke mantaining the lead each time, Erwin would go to the highside of Kotke thru the turns on several laps but could never pull off the pass. After 30 laps of keeping the fans in awe, the Late Model feature was finished and Koke was sitting in Victory Lane for his 4th win in a row! One could only wonder if Kotke could have won on friday night and then picked up the bonus money for his win last night? The $1,000 Bonus Money Rolls Over to the June "Double Down Weekend" Event with possibly more money added! Look for Kotke, Erwin, Clary, Tucker, Tolbert, Price, Hux and Many More Late Model Teams to join them on both nights at our June "Double Down Weekend" Event!!!

Over 30 Racing Families and Race Teams Camped Overnight On The Speedway Grounds, That was Great To See!!! This will increase as the weather warms and the kids are out for summer vacation! We will be upgrading our Camping Program before the June Event, Look For Announcements! The weather was cool and windy, but i never heard anyone that camped out complain, everyone said they had a good time and will be back next month, had a few go over to Medoc Mountain State Park and said that was very enjoyable!!! The Park is very relaxing with alot of activities for the family and really adds to our camping program and racing programs!

We have some things we know we will improve on, some things for our friday night racing program and there are many upgrades we will implement for the Fans, Race Teams and Campers. It was a learning weekend for the Clary's management team and it will improve, as usual it was Good Exciting Racing On Both Nights and we beleive we are on the right path to make this a Big Event Every Month, Possibly Twice A Month!!!
