The Halifax County Board of Elections has received reports that individuals in the Roanoke Rapids area are approaching citizens informing them that the office is in the process of purging records.

Elections Director Kristin Scott said records are not being purged.

In addition, voters are also being encouraged to complete a new voter registration application.

“If approached, we are not purging records and they are not required to complete a new application,” Scott said. “If a voter does complete an application, we encourage them to keep the applications and to submit it to our office themselves unless they are familiar and trust  the organization or person.”

The state board and local law enforcement have been contacted.
