Equipment Mechanic

An employee in this position serves as a skilled mechanic in the garage.  

This employee performs responsible and specialized skilled mechanical work on a variety of automotive, construction and specialized equipment which will include, but not limited to, mechanical work repairing gasoline and diesel motors and engines, and performing preventative maintenance, particularly on heavy equipment.

Essential Duties & Tasks

Performs responsible and specialized skilled mechanical work on a variety of automotive, construction and specialized equipment.

Mechanical work repairing gasoline and diesel motors and engines.

Performs preventative maintenance, particularly on heavy equipment.

Work requires operation of various test equipment and hand tools in order to support the work in both inside and outside environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a high school graduate supplemented by course work in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment and engines.

Must have considerable experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair.

Background check and drug screen required.

MEETING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Planning Board will hold a public meeting Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall located at 700 Jackson Street to hear the following items and provide a recommendation to City Council:

  1. Consideration of changes (text amendments) to the Roanoke Rapids Land Use Ordinance regarding the use of property for the following:
  2. Article X: Permissible Uses, Section 151-149 Table of Permitted Uses to consider the Use Designations in the Zoning Districts as a Permitted or Conditional Use for Cemetery (21.100) in selected residential and commercial zoning districts: R-40; R-20, R-12, R-8, R-6, B-3, B-4. 
  3. Article II: Basic Definitions and Interpretations to consider adding a definition “cemetery.” 
  4. Discussion and consideration of Land Use Ordinance amendments to correspond and comply with North Carolina General Statute 160D, which consolidates city and county Planning & Development Regulations.

BRIEFS

HYDRANT TESTING: The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department will begin their annual hydrant testing on Monday, March 22, 2021 and will continue up to May 31, 2021. Please check your tap water for discoloration before drinking, bathing or washing clothes.  If your water is discolored, turn the cold water tap on until the water runs clear. We hope to finish the hydrant testing as soon as possible.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
