The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department will begin annual hydrant testing on Monday.

This process consists of taking pressure readings on each hydrant which allows the fire department to check performance.

Testing also helps with locating valves that may be closed, which would restrict water flow for firefighting purposes.

Please check your tap water for discoloration before drinking, bathing or washing clothes.

If your water is discolored, turn the cold water tap on until the water runs clear.

We hope to finish the hydrant testing as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Please visit our Facebook page as we will post what area each day we will be testing.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, and if you have any questions please contact the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department at 252-533-2880.

Fire Chief, Jason Patrick

Asst. Chief of Operations Richard Cook
