Reams enters plea in March heroin conspiracy

Tony Ray Reams has entered a guilty plea in a federal heroin distribution conspiracy which led to his and Herbert Lamont Cherry’s indictment following a traffic stop in Roanoke Rapids in March.

A notice filed by United States Attorney John Stuart Brice ties one of the defendants in a March heroin trafficking case to a recent indictment of seven reputed Blood members from Scotland Neck.

Two men charged with trafficking heroin in March have their arraignments continued, federal court records show.

With true bills of indictment returned last month, Henry Cherry and Tony Reams now await their arraignment and trial on federal heroin trafficking charges in New Bern.

Cherry, Reams to remain in federal custody

A United States magistrate judge found probable cause today to move forward with the heroin trafficking case against Herbert Cherry and Tony Reams.

Two men arrested for heroin trafficking earlier this month after a lengthy investigation which ended with a traffic stop are now in federal custody and are awaiting detention hearings Friday in Greenville.

A search warrant filed by the City County Drug Task Force details information on the investigation of a man charged with trafficking heroin.

A traffic stop which led to a major heroin find and the arrest of two men on trafficking charges this morning was the ending of a story which began last March, law enforcement officials said this afternoon.
