Edith Jenkins, who lost her bid for re-election in the Weldon City Schools Board of Education race by four votes, has requested a recount.

The Halifax County Board of Elections, which officially canvassed the votes today, said this evening it is not clear when the recount will be held.

At this time the request stems from the closeness of the vote. Jenkins collected 801 votes. Tiffany Hale, a challenger, got 805 votes.

Hale was one of three challengers who beat out three of the four incumbents in that race during the November 4 general election.

Only incumbent Tanya Byrd-Robinson retained her seat.
