A total of 16 students have been charged in a fight on the Northampton County High School football field last month, a fight that was apparently a spillover of one started in the school cafeteria.

Investigator Bo Deloatch of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office said the last person wanted in the matter was picked up this morning.

Nine of the 10 of-age students were charged with disorderly conduct at a school, while one, 18-year-old Timartus Britt of Rich Square, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Deloatch said Britt allegedly had a chain wrapped around his hand and assaulted another student. The victim did not receive serious injuries.

The remaining juveniles reportedly involved were served petitions for disorderly conduct at a school.

The students had been taken to the football field after a fight that occurred in the school lunchroom on September 25.

The students were taken outside after pepper spray was used to break up the cafeteria fight. What caused that fight is not known and what caused the fight on the football is also unknown. “One minute it was fine. The next minute it was chaos,” Deloatch said.
