The seventh annual Roanoke River Ramble will expand to two days this year, organizers said today.

Roanoke River Partners and the Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau will hold the event on November 1 and 2.

Paddlers may opt for one or both days.

The November 1 trip leaves from the Weldon Boat Landing at 9 a.m. and a light breakfast will be served at the Roanoke River Mill, which overlooks River Falls Park.

(Registration forms are available at the Roanoke River Partners website)

The tour extends for nine miles to the Halifax Fishing Club where there will be Brunswick stew and cornbread at the club's renovated barn. Nine Pound Hammers will perform bluegrass music.

The November 2 paddle embarks from the Thelma Boat Landing at 9 a.m. and will take paddlers on Roanoke Rapids Lake and allow trips around Clement's and Baker islands. The Sunday paddle can be two or seven miles. Maps will be available.

Registration is $30 and includes a commemorative T-shirt, Saturday lunch, coffee and snacks before the paddle launches.

Proceeds from the event will help support Roanoke River Partners.

Registration forms can also be obtained at the Halifax County Tourism office at 260 Premier Boulevard.
