Major Scott Hall declined to elaborate, only saying they found excessive bruising as a result of reported physical abuse.

Corporals Mike Almendarez and Corey Griffin responded to Bynum's Bridge Road in the Scotland Neck area to check on a complaint of child abuse.

They reportedly found evidence of possible abuse on a juvenile at the home.

The Halifax County Department of Social Services assisted in the case and removed the child from the home.

Almendarez arrested the child's mother, Sade Amber Logan. She was jailed on $20,000 secured bond and has an April 30 court date.
