Tougher questions needed for coalition

I wholeheartedly agree with your comments, but think some tougher questions should be asked of the Coalition for Education and Economic Security, NAACP and Concerned Citizens of Tillery.

Why haven’t they gone to the Halifax County School Board and openly demanded accountability for misappropriations of tax payer’s money and years of poor leadership?

Why haven’t they held gatherings and marched on the County School Board demanding the board member’s resignations or better yet, gotten behind the North Carolina Department of Education’s efforts pursuant to a 2009 court order to correct the misgivings within the county’s school system.

It would appear that accountability is not within their vocabulary when it comes to the county’s school system and county leaders that champion for a school merger.

These organizations demand their right of freedom of speech and equality for all, as they should. But, they are quick to cry foul when their opposition against a school merger rallies and reaches out for support in what they truly believe in.

In this case, it is plain to see that the Coalition, NAACP and Concerned Citizens of Tillery don’t practice what they preach and only believe in the guarantees of our Constitution when it facilitates their causes.

I personally believe that it is time that these organizations do a self evaluation and remember that opposite points of view is not a reason to cry foul because another group doesn’t agree with you. Remember, they have the right to rally for votes for their choice of candidates and raise money to support their campaigns.

So, I say to the leaders of the Coalition, NAACP and Concerned Citizens of Tillery, champion for what you believe in, but don’t you dare deny me or others the same rights you so often refer to as the Constitution of the United States.
