The Halifax County Health Department this evening unveiled to the board of health its new logo as part of a way to bring its divisions under a single umbrella.

The rebranding effort re-markets the health department as the Halifax County Public Health System and uses a design created by Les Atkins PR, Cardra Burns, county health director, told the board.

The rebranding coincides with the launch of a new Facebook page and improvements to its website, Burns said.

Burns arrived in the county in September and began the process soon after. “The new logo helps us bridge that gap,” she said, explaining some people don't realize what the health department encompasses. “We didn't have a logo.”

Making up the health department are its clinical department, Home Health and Hospice, environmental health services and animal control.

The logo will be present on the website, social media, brochures and eventually vehicles, she said. The rebranding carries the department's motto, “Caring hearts, helping hands.”
